“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” Albert Einstein

As each day goes by, I find that I am drawn deeper into the rhythms of nature and all the wonderful things that she offers.  My childlike curiosity has returned!

Healing Touch Comes to Children’s National Hospital

Our first introduction to Children’s was via a hospital tour.  We had the opportunity to see all the wonderful things they did both in-house and out in the community. We found ourselves drawn to the Pain Clinic and all the complementary ways they supported the children.  On staff were a Sound Therapist (Harpist), Aroma Therapist, and a Massage Therapist.  There also was as specially designed sleeping pod, that was like sleeping on soft waves of warm water for those children in pain who couldn't sleep or relax.

Their vision was to add an Acupuncturist and some form of Energy work to complete the treatment team along with the existing therapists.  We had many opportunities to meet and talk with the nurses and doctors; we were even included in their planning due to my Holistic background and my husbands affiliation with Johns Hopkins Hospital.  One of there key criteria was that every modality needed to have a recognized certification process.  I was happy to share with them that Healing Touch Program is the only Energy based Medicine Program that has achieved the a National Certification process that is recognized by National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) on January 15, 2014.

The nurses were excited to hear this and the doctors were pleased to learn about this certification too.  Through our donation via the Guardian Society we are happy to say that “Healing Touch” is now being practiced at Children’s National.  The program is still small, but it is incrementally growing and other departments within the hospital are interested in adding Healing Touch benefits to their patients.  I see a bright future for the children having access to complementary services to help them during their stay at the hospital.  This warms my heart and I am so please to be able to share Healing Touch Training with this wonderful hospital.

Playing in the Kitchen

“I love hospitality, and I love cooking. The kitchen is where I feel most at ease and where I feel most like myself.” Geoffrey Zakarian

Being in my kitchen is where I LOVE to be.  Playing, experimenting, tasting and sharing.  I so LOVE to share what I do in the kitchen.  I foresee some cooking classes in the future.

“If the bee disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years left to live.” Maurice Maeterlinck

The Bees have a BIG job to do here on Mother Earth, their honey is sweet and filled with healing beneficial properties.  I feel it is one of the many resources that we need to support and care for.  I love buying local honey and do energy work often to support the “bees.”  I trust that “folks” will realize the importance of this resource and be mindful of what we “do” to the plants that the bees pollinate and gather honey from.

Skin Cancer Awareness

I am one of the lucky ones that was able to get care for a “stage zero” skin cancer.  I had a mole on my arm that was being watched for 4-years that met many of the “ABCDE’s.”  A friend of mine had a very close call with skin cancer;  when she saw my mole that was being watched, she advised me that I get immediate care for it.  I’m glad that I followed her advice and as a result I “caught” in time.  Skin cancer is one of the easy cancers to care for IF caught early.

Please take a moment and check-in with your skin, know the ABCDE’s and go to a Board Certified Skin doctor.  Have a yearly check-up, take pictures of your moles so you can keep a “living” diary.

The universe is filled with mystery, and each day we learn something new.

As for my personal page you with find things like recipes (I love to eat and play in the kitchen), fun things to make, and things that make me smile and things that my head shake.
